sique sique sputnik

1998

The collection Sique Siue Sputnik is a tribut and Hommage to the wild pop trash group Sigue Sigue Sputnik. Neon letters, a puzzle of song lyrics, are printed on shirts, coats, jackets and trousers like an announcement to society.

The collection was presented on different fashion events in Hamburg, Berlin and Paris. It was one of the first collections that catched the attantion of media and press. Some parts of the collection were used for different music videos, for example ” Dein Schweiss” Sven Väth.

“James claimed that he had chosen his bandmates for their looks, and the band’s slogan was “Fleece the World”. James billed the band as “Hi-tech sex, designer violence, and the fifth generation of rock ‘n’ roll”.

The themes and imagery in the band’s songs were often influenced by futuristic, dystopian or post-apocalyptic films such as A Clockwork Orange, The Terminator, Blade Runner and the Mad Max trilogy.[2][5] Visually, their image included fishnet masks and brightly coloured wigs.

The music, identity and inspiration of the band also mashed up a range of other pop culture influences, including the electronica influences of Suicide, and the New York Dolls.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigue_Sigue_Sputnik, Mai 2012)
